Introducing Us – The Schwinger Family

I think my first post should be about the most important thing in my life – my little family! It currently consists of me, my husband Zach, and our son James.

How it started

Our family got its start in 2020 during the COVID lockdowns. My husband and I met on a dating app and immediately clicked. Within a few days of our first date we were spending all of our free time together and by the end of the month we were engaged. After a few months (which felt like forever at the time) we got married!

The ceremony was in my grandparents’ backyard with just a few friends and family. It couldn’t have been more perfect. Since then we’ve had a wonderful year and a half together watching movies, navigating pregnancy, and figuring out what to make for dinner.

Then in October of 2021 we were sealed in the Sacramento, California temple of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. A “sealing” is a special ceremony in our church where a couple is married for time and all eternity and the children are joined to them as well. This is so that after we die we can still remain bonded together as a family. It was a very special day that I am eternally grateful for!

How it’s going

Zach works as a pool construction manager and loves video games, scary movies, and making our little boy laugh. He’s hilarious and thoughtful, and I’ve learned a lot from him in the last year and a half. He’s a great example to me of optimism and positive thinking. Zach is without a doubt my best friend and I’m so grateful for him.

Our son James (AKA Bubbins) is going to be 6 months old in just a week or two! He’s a drool and spit-up MONSTER who loves to chew on anything and everything, but ultimately prefers playing with bags of chips to playing with his toys. He’s been working hard on sitting up all by himself and watching him topple over is the absolute cutest.

James has become quite the babbler recently, so here’s a short video of the little guy:

Then there’s me! I’m currently a computer science major at Western Governor’s University. It’s based out of Utah, but I’m a fully online student and their program is amazing! It’s so much more flexible than traditional college. Each semester you’re required to complete 12 credits, but you work on only one class at a time. You can then complete them at a pace that you decide. Some classes have only taken me a week while others have taken me a few months. This flexibility allowed me to complete 20 credits in my first semester – even though I took 2 months off when I had my son.

And that’s our whole family right now! We do hope to eventually add more little ones, but for now we’re completely happy with our little trio.
